Jordan Pyper

Jordan and Kati Pyper are two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet.  Both have devoted their lives to educating young people. Both Jordan and Kati are incredible school teachers, some of the finest teachers you could ever have.  Many, many former students will fondly recall the time they spent with Mr. or Mrs. Pyper as some of the best times they had in school. They both have extremely infectious positive attitudes and spend countless hours striving to improve their community through their generosity, kindness, and by being genuinely good people.  When thinking of Jordan and Kati, it is difficult to even find words that can accurately describe how wonderful they are.  They are loved and admired by all who know them, they inspire and change lives on a daily basis, they would literally do anything they could to help someone.  In short, they are the type of people that we hope and pray we can become one day.

Recently Jordan came down with what was first thought to be a bad case of the flu, but his condition began to worsen.  Despite being terribly ill, Jordan, being the dedicated teacher that he is, refused to miss school to go to the doctor.  When Kati was finally able to convince Jordan to go to the emergency room, it was discovered that Jordan's blood pressure was alarmingly high and he was in complete renal failure.  Unfortunately, things began to go downhill for Jordan quickly, and after many tests, procedures, a blood transfusion, over a week in the hospital, and many more complications, Jordan began dialysis and the healing process.  This has been a very difficult time for these two wonderful people and a complete adjustment to their lifestyle.  This is a hereditary condition and certainly nothing Jordan could have prevented.

As soon as Jordan is stable he will need a kidney transplant, and he has a long and difficult road ahead of him.  Not only has this been a life-changing experience for the Pypers, but the medical costs will continue to add up.   It is estimated the cost of dialysis begins at $15,000 a month.

Jordan and Kati have been an inspiration to so many individuals throughout the years that it is hard to even comprehend the amount of good they have brought into the world.  As is common with teachers, we as a community are always trying to find a way to repay them for their goodness, their time, their love, and the difference they have made for our children.  When thinking of the Pypers, it is difficult to even fathom the lasting impact these two will have.

For so many of us, while we wish it were under different circumstances, we are grateful to have a chance to repay a sliver of the debt of gratitude that we owe to these amazing people.
