Jon’s Journey with ALS

Donation protected
My dad, Jon Wells was just recently diagnosed with ALS in late January. Needless to say, our family’s world was shattered when we found out. Suddenly life changed in a direction that we never saw coming. ALS is non-curable, and the average life expectance is 2-5 years. If you are not familiar with ALS, you can click here to read about it. http://www.alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html.

My dad is a wonderful man, husband, Pastor, and friend. He has a such a sense of humor and quick wit! He loves his family and his newest joy is his grandson! I love his constant dad jokes and creative ideas. He has a heart for Jesus and sharing about the Savior that is truly a gift. We don’t understand why God has allowed such a devastating disease to attack my dad, but we do know that God’s plan is perfect and that somehow, He will use this for His glory.

Currently my mom is still working full time, but that will become limited or even to an end as the disease progresses as my dad will need someone to be with him all the time. My parents have lived by faith since 1998 when they stepped out in faith to follow the Lords leading into Ministry. They have no nest egg and their insurance is through the market place that has co-pays and extremely high deductibles. Currently my parents are looking to have their house re-configured this summer (if you have skills and would like to help, see the blog!). This means creating a bedroom on the main floor and a handicap bath, along with ramps coming into the house. Eventually there will be a need for a power wheelchair and a vehicle to accommodate the wheelchair. I am sure many other needs will arise as this is just the beginning for them.

The funds raised will go directly to my parents to help cover these needs as they arise. I recently read an article of a casestudy that showed ALS disease duration cost was $1.5M and this was in 2014. (case study) My parents are going to need help. Please pray about how you can help. We serve a big God and I know that through his people he will meet the needs of my parents. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, you can send checks to the church. Please put Jon Wells on the memo line so we know it is to go directly to him.
