Jon's Cancer Treatment Fund

Hi, my name is Jon and if you watched the video you already know who I am and why I'm here. But for those who haven't watched it yet, I'll explain a little about my journey now.

Currently, I am 44 years old and I have cancer. Not that any cancer is "good", but the type of cancer I currently have is one of the less favorable. Recently, I was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer and yes, it's even worse than it sounds. I also have cancer in my liver (both lobes) as well as my bones and spine, so, I have that going for me.

Another fun fact, this is my third round with cancer; Hodgkins in 1993, Hodgkins again in 2012 and then of course what I've just described of what I currently have now. 

Probably the worst part of my current condition is the pain. You see, last October I was having bad pain in my neck and my arms. It quickly became worse and I was diagnosed with severe damage to the cervical portion of my neck. Long story short, once they went in to stabilize my neck they discovered a large tumor pressing on my spine. After further tests and scans, they discovered that it was in several places. But the original damage done to my nerves is the source of my pain. I've tried several different meds and combo of meds to treat the pain, but so far, we've had very little success.

Unfortunately, I was in the process of getting health insurance when I was first diagnosed, but it wouldn't go into effect until the first of January of this year and because of the urgency of the condition of my neck (which could have led to possible paralysis if I pushed the surgery off anymore), I was forced to get the first of my surgeries in mid-December and therefore before the insurance was active. Because of this, I have accumulated a substantial debt from the hospital as well as surgeon bills.

Now, thankfully the second surgery was after my insurance kicked in, but because of my condition, my monthly premium is over $800 a month. Throw into the mix that I am currently unable to work, and well, I'm sure you can understand my predicament. 

Listen, this is not easy for me to ask, but as you might imagine it's imperative that I keep my insurance plan active.  So, that is partially why I am asking for this money. The second part is because I'm trying to pay off both the hospital and surgeon.

I know that there are many needy and deserving people in the world and that you aren't able to give to them all, but if you would consider helping me, with any amount, I can promise you, it would mean the world to me. Truly.
