Jon Keefer's Medical Fund

In November of 2013 Jon was diagnosed with lung cancer.   In January of 2014 he had a surgery that removed the upper lobe of his lung containing the tumor and surrounding lymph nodes.  After that surgery, tests revealed that Jon was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer, limited stage.  He completed grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation as Small Cell is a very agressive form of lung cancer.  After his treatment was finished in September he had a CT Scan to check for any remaining tumors. 

On October 11, 2014 the family received a call from Jon's doctor as they were driving to Florida for a family vacation.  The doctor told them that Jon had at least nine tumors in the brain and unfortunately he was not a candidate for Gamma knife therapy because of the number.  His only option is whole brain radiation, which is not proven to extend his life and would cause substantial brain damage resulting in memory loss, loss of cognitive function, etc.  Jon, his wife Crystal, and daughter Kendran were all together when they met with the doctor and decided to not pursue further treatement.  At that time, Jon was given 4-6 months to live. 

This fund is being setup so that Jon and Crystal can spend their remaining time together LIVING.  Any funds raised will help cover the very expensive costs of treatment and alleviate some of his financial burden of medical expenses.
