Jon Hays Fights Cancer

Meet Jon Hays, my amazing dad.
He wears many different hats to the people who know him. Husband, father, grandfather, son, friend, boss, hunter, hard worker, builder, leader, helper, enforcer, gardener, chef, bad ass. He is reliable, caring, hilarious, responsible, honest, loving, selfless and the best father I could have ever dreamed of having.
This dearly beloved father of mine was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. (Pancreatic cancer is unfortunately not curable.) Needless to say this was an incredible shock to him and his loved ones. Action was taken immediately to have a biopsy and to find more information about the cancer that has invaded his body.
The money raised will be going towards his treatments (chemotherapy and radiation), potential surgeries, assistance at home (meals, cleaning services, yard work) and any other financial obligations that will arise through this very difficult and painful time.
Over the last two weeks and through the tears and pain we as a family have faced, it has been amazing the response that so many people have reached out to help and/or assist in anyway they can. It amazes me how many people my dad has had an impact on throughout his life. It reinforces how incredibly special he is.
So many have asked what they can do, how they can help and this is one easy (but incredibly important) way to assist my dad and mom.
My dad is normally the (sometimes very hard headed) strong one that is taking care of our family. I know he is still worried about us and my mom even though he is going through such a traumatic time himself. This is just who he is. He worries about people and sincerely cares for them.
I sincerely appreciate the time and money you are donating to his fight. I know my parents (both my mom Annette Hays, and my dad will probably be irritated at me for setting this up) will be so incredibly touched by the generosity that has been shown. My dad is my hero and I know will fight till the end. As he says "keep chopping wood".
