Hello everyone,
We are Jonathan’s family and closest friends, the ones that will be walking closely next to him in this journey.
On December 1st 2017 Jonathan had a seizure during which he dislocated and broke his shoulder in three parts, without falling or moving from his bed. He had just started his new job in tech the day before and was very excited but also stressed about it.
We went to the hospital thinking it was a dislocation (we didn't know he had had a seizure) but after the first x-ray results we could see the amazing and impossible break.
Doctors came to take pictures of the break and, due to the difficulty of the surgery needed, it took a while to find a doctor that would be willing to operate on him.
After several hours in an ER we were sent to the one in UCSF.
As soon as we got there, the head of the department asked if he had had a seizure and at that point it all made a lot of sense.
As soon as that possibility was considered they asked the neurologist to come. He started asking questions to which most of the answers were positive.
An hour later he was getting an MRI. Three hours later we were told that he had a brain tumor.
We immediately pictured what the following months were going to be like and started organizing a team of people that would help him deal with everything that was about to come.
Jonathan is an amazing human being and is loved by all of us.
And amazing are all the wonderful people around him that have been showing their support since the beginning. We are starting this blog and crowd funding campaign so all of you can keep being part of his recovery, stay updated, and help if you haven’t had the chance or just feel like it; every little contribution will for sure be very helpful to him.
Needless to say, apart from the tumor, surgical side-effects and a tough recovery, he will be left with a great bill and expenses related to his diagnosis.
With all our love and yours, we will try to make his journey a bit less difficult.
