Jonas Zehr Recovery/Medical Fund

On November 12, 2017, Jonas was in a serious car accident, that left him in a coma and fighting for his life.  He was transported by helicopter to Syracuse Hospital, where he underwent emergency brain surgery to help with bleeding and swelling.  Jonas has a broken jaw, collar bone, pelvic and many brain and facial fractures.  He has a traumatic brain injury.  Even though doctors are optimistic on a full or close to full recovery it could be months or even years for Jonas to be healed.  Today is 1 month since the accident and Jonas has been moved to the rehab floor.  They are working on strengthening and getting him to speak and be able to swallow.  They are also working on getting him to use his left side and strengthening muscles to be able to sit, stand, walk, and be able to do what is needed in his daily life.  Doctors say it will be a long road with many ups and downs.  There is someone with him 24/7, that means his mom, dad and brother have had to put their jobs on hold so that they are able to give Jonas full 24/7 care.  He will continue to stay at upstate but it is the family’s responsibility to have someone by his bed 24/7.  Family is traveling daily and all money raised will be used for medical expenses that insurance doesn't cover, traveling expenses, and unforeseen expenses that the family will endure during this troubling time.  No one ever thinks this will happen to them, but when it does it completely changes your life and brings on many new struggles.
Before the accident Jonas was a very active, kind, loving, outgoing 17 year old boy.  He is a Senior at Carthage High School, who was attending HVAC.  He worked out daily and worked on several local farms.  Jonas attended church every Sunday. He would always be there to help anyone out that needed it.
Jonas is the son of David and Josi Zehr and the brother of Montana Zehr.
All your donations and support is very appreciated.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
