Jon Martin's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Jon Martin is a native New Hampshire forester with years of experience and extensive knowledge of safe, sustainable logging practices, yet a recent tragic accident has been a harsh reminder of the inherent dangers of the forestry industry. Our friend Jon is dealing with traumatic injuries after being struck by, then pinned behind a tree while on the job.

Jon had 12 shattered ribs, a dislocated hip, a broken collarbone, several fractured vertebrae, and a punctured lung and diaphragm. He was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock where he underwent two surgeries - one to repair the lung, and another to reinforce his shattered ribcage with metal plates.

While the surgeries may be over for the time being, Jon now has to face a long and difficult recovery. As many of you know, Jon has a wife and two small children. He manages his own company, Martin Forestry Consulting. The timing of this accident has made matters more complicated: Jon and his wife Erin are ¾ through the process of building their home on their Tree Farm in Bridgewater. They have been living in a temporary mobile home on their property during the construction process.

Anyone that knows Jon Martin will say that he is one of the kindest, most positive people you could ever meet. His passion for conservation and sustainable forestry is evident through his work as an educator and advisor to his many clients throughout NH. Jon’s hope is to recover as fast as humanly possible, so he can get back to the forestry job he loves, and complete the building of his family’s home. While his optimism is encouraged and inspiring, the reality is that Jon will be out of work for some time. The expenses of their new construction and his business equipment are ongoing, and even with insurance, there are many out of pocket expenses incurred from this accident.

Our goal is to help the Martin family get through this difficult time.

Communities are strongest when their people are supported in times of extreme hardship. Any donation by friends, colleagues, or community members, in any amount, would be graciously appreciated and will go directly to the Martin family.
