Jon, Ashley, and Evan's Fire Relief Fund

Donation protected
As most of you know or have by now heard - a fire occurred at 1039 4th St. last Tuesday. Jon and Ashley were living on the main level and Evan in the basement. Luckily, no one was seriously injured during the tragedy. However, we cannot say the same for the house.

The fire started in the bathroom of the upstairs suite. It quickly spread to the kitchen and living room before it was extinguished. Ashley had been asleep as the fire escalated. It was the downstairs tenant, Evan, whose quick and calm response might have saved Ashley's life and the remainder of their belongings.

Evan had been returning home at 7am from a night shift when he realized he forgot his charger in his car and ran back out to get it -- it was then that he noticed the smoke coming out of the back-end of the house. He reacted quickly and ran to a neighbors house to get them to call 9/11. He then ran around to the front of the house where Ashley had managed to escape, too. It was then that he stopped her from running back in for Jon's DJ equipment. He remained calm and collected as he comforted Ashley and moved her away from the burning house. This final act of heroism we believe may have saved her life.

As the ash began to settle, the damage was taken in. The news was grim: They lost most of their belongings. While they have insurance - it won't cover everything not to mention they still owe $1000 for the deductible. Plus all the out-of-pocket costs they incurred for time taken off work, professional cleaning, and items they need to replace themselves that insurance wouldn't cover. Even though Evan's basement suite wasn't directly affected by the flame, he still lost many belongings due to water damage. His new couch and mattress were of the biggest items he  has to replace, out of pocket.  All three of them have had to take the past week+ off work (losing wages) and incur thousands of dollars of unanticipated costs. They've been uprooted and displaced from their homes, their memories, and their things.

We are asking that you donate anything you can whether it's $5 or $50. The proceeds from this fund will be split so that Evan receives half of it and Jon/Ashley split the other half. We want to thank Evan for his role in this tragedy. He is largely the reason that we still have our Unicorn (Ashley) here with us, today. Let's show him some appreciation for his kind deeds. It was his quick response that got help so quick and kept Ashley out of the fire. There aren't enough words in the world to thank him for what he did last Tuesday. Evan, you are a true hero!  Now, let's get you a new bed!
