Joining for Joyce

Joyce Garner was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in the summer of 2016. She has been fighting a heroic battle, relying on faith and determination to keep going. On a few occasions, she has been advised by health professionals to get her things in order because there was little hope left for her. But Joyce did not listen- those of us who know her are not at all surprised. Through several rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, a bilateral mastectomy, and countless agonizing hours, Joyce pressed on. She has recently undergone a very invasive surgery to remove tumors that were compromising her bones. The surgeons have pieced her back together, but her road to recovery will be long and arduous. Her insurance does not cover the cost of her future treatments. Joyce's husband, Will, has not left her side and is therefore not able to work very much.

Joyce and Will are so much more than the above paragraph. They are the loves of each other's lives. They are friends to many, family to several siblings and cousins, children to agonizing parents, and devoted parents to their daughters. They have been active members of their community for nearly 30 years, attending church and community events with the same family for decades. Joyce worked in the school where her daughters attended through 8th grade. They have always been willing to open their doors to others, giving when there was not much to give and doing so with grace and generosity unsurpassed by many.

They need help now.
