<div>Following the earthquake tragedy in Venezuela on June 24, a group of more than 30 alumni and active members of UWC Venezuela have decided to organize a fundraiser to support the thousands affected.

<div>We all had the opportunity to study in different corners of the world, creating these bonds that allow us today to reach out to you. To reach out to our friends, family, and close connections and invite you to contribute to alleviate this tragedy.

<div><strong>Organizing Team</strong>
</div>
<div>We are more than 30 alumni and active volunteers of UWC Venezuela who decided to join forces to organize a fundraiser to relieve the victims.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Destination of Funds</strong>
</div>
<div>The money collected will be allocated to trusted Venezuelan organizations with an existing presence in the affected areas: AIEM, Emergencias Divina Pastora, Ayudanditoo, and Cáritas Venezuela.

<div>We will divide the funds as follows:

<div>We have opted for this system in order to primarily focus on local organizations while still including an organization with a greater national reach. AIEM, Emergencias Divina Pastora, and Ayudanditoo are small but high-impact organizations run by volunteers known by our organizing team. We chose to contribute to Cáritas because it is one of the organizations with the widest reach in the country.

<div><strong>The Organizations</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>AIEM </strong>(@asistenciaiem) and <strong>Emergencias Divina Pastora</strong> (@emgdivinap) are medical organizations based in Barquisimeto that is currently working together to provide free medical care and support in La Guaira, one of the areas most affected by the earthquake. The organizations are raising funds to purchase medical supplies, food, and logistical resources to help sustain and expand its emergency response efforts.

<li><strong>Ayudanditoo</strong> (@ayudanditoo) is a non-profit organization with a local presence in La Guaira: They bring supplies directly to the affected people. We have chosen this organization because it is local to La Guaira and it already has experience working directly in the area most affected by the earthquake. Ayudanditoo is led by Diego Vega Mata, directly endorsed by several of our most senior volunteers.

<li><strong>Cáritas</strong> (@caritasdevzla) is a confederation of Catholic NGOs that carry out humanitarian work. It has been present in Venezuela since 1963, and its work reaches 71% of the national territory, including rural areas: This allows aid to reach places that are difficult to access. Many of our organizing members have worked directly with Cáritas and have witnessed its work and reach.

<div><strong>How we got here</strong>
</div>
<div>Our group has been formed thanks to our direct or indirect relationship with UWC Venezuela, also known as the Venezuelan Association of United World Colleges (Avemundo).

<div>This group of volunteers has had the privilege of studying in different parts of the world, and of turning friendships into extended families. Thanks to this privilege, we have the capacity for global reach and our purpose is to channel this support network to help our families, friends, close connections, and fellow Venezuelans directly affected by this tragedy.

<div>In organizing this fundraiser, we have had rigorous discussions to identify highly trusted and credible organizations, choosing those we believe will best optimize the resources gathered. Every contribution counts, regardless of the amount. Every donation adds up and can save lives.
