Join Us to Enhance Theresa's Quality of Life
I’d like to introduce myself and my good friend Theresa.
My name is Camille. Theresa and I have been friends for 46 years and amazingly, we've never lost contact with each other even though we live too far apart.
For those of you who don’t know her, Theresa is an RN (having worked in Emergency Rooms, ICU, Helicopter Transport, Nursing Management and Hospice). She has spent most of her life as the one rushing to help and provide aid. Whether it be professional or personal, Theresa is always there to lend a hand. She also has countless hours spent with many volunteer efforts. Whether it’s with disaster relief or genealogy adoption search and reunion, she’s there 100% giving of herself to help others in need.
Let me try to explain in a very shortened version of events, what has led to this request.
After a serious accident / head injury a few years ago she was left having to re- learn to walk, talk and care for herself. Shortly after that is when her health really started on a downward spiral.
She unfortunately, was left with cognitive deficits in addition to extensive cardio / pulmonary issues. She has not been able to work, for obvious reasons, for a few years now.
She has been in the hospital 6 times this year, the last time for 21 days in ICU, intubated and on a ventilator. Her family was praying for the best, but for the first time, was also most definitely preparing for the worst.
Unfortunately, any and all of her lifetime savings/investments have been depleted by the ongoing and exorbitant out of pocket medical expenses which has now trickled down to creating an instability in her housing situation.
The goal of this fund is to try to help out (supplement) where we can, while trying to have the greatest impact on her daily life. Listed below are just a few items that she is in desperate need of with a very rough cost estimate that are in addition to her day-to-day expenses, Dr. Visits, co pays, prescription co-pays (approx.$250.00 per month), personal care items, food, etc.
*Funding for suitable, medically appropriate housing. (unable to provide estimate)
*Cognitive Therapy 3x/week (outpatient and paid out of pocket) $50.00 co pay PER visit, $150.00 per week, $600.00 per month is her responsibility.
*Hearing aids- She has unfortunately lost all hearing in her right ear possibly ototoxicity / medication related.
$1800.00 per hearing aid. Not covered by insurance.
*New prescription eyeglasses
$400.00 -$500.00
*Help to defer the mounting medical expenses. (Can’t even put an estimate on that)
And just to add insult to injury, last week, a day after being released from the hospital (after 21 days), she was T-boned by an erratic, uninsured driver, leaving her now, without a car.
It just breaks my heart that she is so far away and I can't be with her on a regular basis to help.
But I know that with our collective prayers and financial assistance, we can make a long-lasting positive difference in her life and overall wellbeing.
While I do realize we can’t solve all of her problems, I’m hoping we can make a positive impact on her quality of life with financial donations.
There are no words to thank each and every one of you if you choose to make a donation. But know that you will be in our continued prayers for your generosity.
THANK YOU so much for taking the time to read this heartfelt request.
