UPDATE ON NOX AS OF 04/06/25

We received a call from the vet around 1 a.m. this morning to let us know that Nox made it through his surgery and did very well. He responded to the anesthesia like a champ, and the best part—there was no need to remove anything, and his spleen was unharmed.

We visited him around noon today, and he was still doing well, though understandably a little loopy from the pain meds and the stress of surgery. By that point, he was getting plenty of fluids and resting as much as he could. He wasn’t interested in eating just yet, which is to be expected after such a big procedure.

Later, we returned with my parents and brought some of Nox’s favorite food and treats, hoping he’d be a little more interested. The moment they let us in, his tail was wagging, and his excitement to see us was heartwarming! We were able to take him outside for a short walk, and he even peed on his own—something he hadn’t done with the staff. We also managed to get him to eat half a treat and some peanut butter, which is a huge improvement!

If all continues to go well, the vet is hopeful that he’ll be able to come home tomorrow! We’re so grateful for all the love and support, and we’ll keep you all updated as he continues to heal. ❤️

Hi friends, family, and fellow dog lovers—

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for help for our sweet boy, Nox.

Nox is our 7-year-old black Great Dane, and we’ve had him since he was just 5 weeks old. He was a wedding gift—but he quickly became so much more than that. He’s been our gentle giant, our best friend, and one of the greatest blessings in our lives.

If you know Nox, you know he’s a big dog with an even bigger heart. He’s a total love bug who thinks he’s the size of a wiener dog, always trying to crawl into our laps. He greets his “grandparents” every morning, adores his Uncle Kenz, and keeps a watchful eye on the neighborhood from his favorite spot on the front porch (with a bark or two if anyone dares step out of line).

Nox has a huge personality, a caring heart, and a little sass that he got from his sister, Sadie. He loves car rides, neighborhood walks, and being part of every little moment in our lives.

His name—Nox—comes from a spell in Harry Potter that turns off the lights. We named him that because of his beautiful black coat… and like the spell, he’s always been a bit magical to us.

Unfortunately, Nox recently had a severe seizure that led to a dangerous knot in his intestines. We rushed him to the ER at Shallowford and are now waiting to transfer him to VSG downtown for emergency surgery.

The surgery alone is expected to cost between $6,500–$8,300, with an additional $4,500 needed for aftercare and recovery. It’s a staggering amount—but Nox has so much life left to live, and even his vet said so during his checkup last year. He’s still got so much love to give.

If you feel led to help, whether it’s through a donation or simply by sharing this page, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every dollar brings us closer to giving Nox the chance to keep living the happy, love-filled life he deserves.

Thank you for loving our boy with us.

With love and gratitude,
Jordan & Macy
