<div>This year has been such a tough but rewarding time of growth for the Ockers. As many know, Caleb’s hip failed in April of 2024 due to an ongoing internal infection. He had this hip since 2002 when he was originally diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma – a type of bone cancer.

<div>After the hip failed last year, he had an antibiotic spacer placed in the right hip while taking IV antibiotics for 30 days. The new custom prosthetic hip design was finished in December of 2024, but Caleb remained on a waiting list for months. On April 10th, 2025, Caleb received his new Custom Prosthetic Right Hip. Dr. Abraham and his team did amazing work over the 8-hour procedure. The first two weeks of recovery were very painful and hard, but he is happy to be past that phase and into working hard with outpatient physical therapy to <strong><em>recover and walk again!</em></strong>

<div>Until this point, the Ockers have made the decision not to ask for any financial help. However, the added copays, childcare, and medical bills (Dr. Abraham is a private practice that charges $300-700 per visit) have caught up to them. Another challenge has been Caleb’s decreased pay this year.

<div>As they continue this journey, they also desire to move out of their rental and to purchase a home for their family to blossom in. <strong><em>This is a dream they’ve been praying over and looking for since 2018! </em></strong>This past year, a large amount of money they saved towards the house has ended up going towards medical expenses, childcare, and making up for Caleb’s decreased income.

<div>The Ockers believe in the power of prayer and have relied on God through this time. Even through this year, they believe He has blessed them in the mountains and the valleys. They are learning to believe the Lord can provide good things in the midst of hardship.
