Songs for Seniors is a nonprofit organization with two goals: to enrich and enliven the senior community and to support the advancement of independent musicians by providing full-time employment in an active community service capacity.
Let's be honest, we all know the needs of seniors when it comes to interaction, attention, and engagement. We also know the needs of independent artists when it comes to financially supporting their artistic pursuits. Both communities struggle to have these needs met. Most senior communities have insufficient funds for life enrichment, and some of them lack funding entirely. At the same time, the traditional gig economy for musicians often fails to provide the financial stability that artists need to afford their living, driving them to seek employment in fields that do not encourage and/or allow them to invest their time and energy into their art.
This is why we're asking you to join us in lifting up these communities. Our estimated cost for our first year of operation is $200,000, which will provide the funding necessary for startup costs, artist and staff salary, insurance, marketing and promotion, and organizational growth in order to expand our program to 10 artists by the following year.
How soon do we need these funds? As soon as possible! :)
Our team is poised and ready to launch. We are a state recognized nonprofit, with an application pending status for our 501(c)(3) standing. We are incorporated, with an elected board of officers and directors, and have signed up our first official artist. We just need the financial support of folks like you to get started. So, if you are looking to support seniors and the arts, consider joining us in bringing this vision to fruition.
