<div>My name is Mike McAndrews and have been the Varsity basketball coach at Cardinal Mooney Catholic HS for 27 yrs. I graduated from Cardinal Mooney in 1993. The very 1st person I met at Cardinal Mooney in 1989 was Bobby Patterson, and Bobby and I would become instant friends. We shared a passion for sports and played 3 sports together during our 4 years at Cardinal Mooney. Bobby and I have been best friends for 35 years, we have stood up in each others wedding, been around for the birth of each others children, and Bobby was even the 1st assistant I hired when I got the head coaching job at a our alma mater in 1999. Bobby was diagnosed over the summer with a rare form of cancer called Neuroendocrine tumor, and he is currently on his 4th round of intense chemotherapy. On his last scan, the tumor hadn't spread but it also had not shrunk at all so that they could perform surgery. Bobby will be seeking an opinion at MD Anderson in Houston after the new year. Bobby has committed his life to Catholic education, along with being an alumni of Cardinal Mooney, he has spent his life as a Catholic School teacher and administrator at Notre Dame Prep. Bobby is married to his beautiful wife Kelly and they have 3 small children ages 9, and twin 7 yr olds. The Cardinal Mooney administration has been kind enough to allow me to run the "Balling for Bobby" event on Friday, December 20th at our home game vs Lutheran North. We are having T shirts made for sale and all profits of T Shirt sales, Concessions, Gate, and 50/50 will go to the Patterson Family to help with expenses that come along with this type of treatment.
