Ron was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the blood which damages the bones. In typical Smith fashion, Julia and Ron found out all they could about the disease from doctors and friends, and began the uphill journey towards healing, their goal being a stem cell transplant at Mayo Clinic! Their journey was sidetracked when one of Ron's meds attacked his muscles, greatly limiting his mobility. Through their determination, Ron is back on course and scheduled to begin the stem cell transplant process in late October.
While they have been blessed with health insurance that assists with some medical expenses, they are now facing another financial roadblock due to the required six week stay in Rochester during the procedure. Hotel costs alone will be over $9,000, not to mention transportation and meals.
Whether you are family, friends, or 'friends of family or friends', your kind generosity in any amount will help them break through these roadblocks and arrive at their destination--Ron's return to good health.
Would you please join us on this journey? Any contribution will help them travel on this difficult road, and will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for considering being 'travel partners' with the Smiths... If you know someone who would want to help, please reach out to them so they can join our journey.
Thank you so very much!
