For the past two years we wanted to do Black Friday differently, and this year is no exception - so instead of discounting our prices, Lucy & Yak will be donating 10% of every sale between Friday 27thNovember to Tuesday 1st December to two amazing charities; Fior Di Loto Foundation in India and Magic Breakfast, in the UK.
For the third year we'll be partnering with our friends at the Fior Di Loto Foundation in Pushkar, India, who provide schooling to over 700 girls who may not otherwise have access to education.
Your generosity last year, managed to send 90 girls to school and this year we want to send the same girls back to school for another year, and hopefully even more!This year has also highlighted the reality that young people are struggling closer to home as well.
From school closures across the UK, and the unavailability of free school meals – we've seen how precarious, but also how key education is for every child. So this year, we’re also joining forces with the marvellous Magic Breakfast; who provide nutritious breakfasts to almost 50,000 children across England & Scotland.
This Go Fund me page is simply an option to donate directly to the initiative without having to buy anything! We'll be distributing the total donations between Fior Di Loto and Magic Breakfast!For £220, the Fior Di Loto Foundation can educate one girl for a whole year, buy her uniform, shoes, and books and also provide her lunch and transport (and a lovely dress for their Diwali Celebrations). That's not a lot of money to transform one person's life through education! In fact, we think it's just about the best thing you can spend £220 on!
While Magic Breakfast can provide a nutritious breakfast for just 0.34p or £5.53 could give 1 child 1x month of breakfasts and support.
You're welcome to donate whichever amount you can (however big or small) We are so thankful for your support with this initiative! Here are some more details on what your donation can buy:
Fior Di Loto:
• £7 will pay for a pair of school shoes
• £8 will pay for a large food package for a local family
• £11 will pay for a school uniform
• £20 will pay for a set of books
• £40 will pay for transport to and from school
• £56 will cover food
• £100 covers exam fees and teachers
Magic Breakfast:
• 34p to feed one child a nutritious breakfast plus wrap-around support and the chance to succeed at school.
• £5.53 could give 1 child 1 month of breakfasts and support
•£17 Could give 1 Child 50 Breakfasts and support
•£66.29 Could give 1 child 1 year of Breakfasts and Support
• £100 Could give 1 Child 294 Breakfasts and Support.
It means so much to us that you are prepared to forfeit discounts and look out for people - let's see if we can make it an even bigger donation this year, send more amazing girls to school, support the Pushkar community through Fior Di Loto's food parcel campaign and provide thousands of children with fuel for learning!
