I am forever grateful to an anonymous man for his gift. In 2011, I received a liver from a man who had informed his family and friends that he wished to be a donor. This was an act of a great selflessness through a person who can only be considered a hero. I am forever grateful to him and his family for such an act. Each day since my surgery, I strive to be a better person and make a difference in the lives of everyone I meet. In sharing my story, I am hopeful that I will be able to inspire someone to fight hard and triumph in their battle for life.
Being part of the 2020 World Transplant Winter Games, I have the esteemed opportunity and the podium to express the importance of being a donor. I have had the opportunity to meet some extraordinary people throughout my journey. Not everyone has had the opportunity to heal as well as I have. Some have not recovered at all. I am one of the fortunate ones. My mission is to race on their behalf.
