Within six months, I was unable to walk. Within the next year, I lost the ability to eat and speak, requiring a feeding tube. Later in 2024, I developed pneumonia and lost the ability to breathe on my own. I'm now on a ventilator. <strong>The average life span for someone with ALS is 3 to 5 years after diagnosis. ALS is 100% fatal.</strong>
