Join Pete's Journey

On January 18, 2018 “One-Eye” Pete Zwanenburg was told what many would consider to be great news…his heart was in better shape than most people half his age.

Pete figured this could only mean one thing – something more serious was causing the tingling in his arm and the severe pain in his chest.

Over the past several weeks Pete has had more visits to doctors and labs, more scans, x-rays, procedures, and needles than he has in his entire life. This has resulted in a diagnosis of terminal lung cancer which has spread to his lymph nodes.

It didn’t take Pete too long to wrap his head around this news and come up with a plan with his doctors. Treatment has begun with antibiotics to clear his lungs and will soon include several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. He is a good candidate for immunotherapy (a type of treatment that helps your immune system fight cancer). There are also a variety of alternative treatments that look promising. His cancer isn’t curable, but it is treatable.

Pete has a long road to face. He is not able to work. If you know Pete well, you probably know he isn’t one to ask for help. So let’s show him our support by rallying together to help him on his journey in whatever way we can. If you can’t donate, just call him up to say hello! He would love to hear from you. Yes, actually.
