Join Marcos Lopez in saving his dad

I am setting up this Go Fund Me page for my coworker and friend, Marcos Lopez, he is 24 years old. SCOI hired this young man right out of his rotations, as he was studying to be a surgical tech. This kid is so impressive, he’s intelligent, hardworking, kind, and extremely polite. After he finished high school, he enlisted with the Marines, served his time honorably, to be able to go to school, to not place a huge financial burden on his dad. As he quickly became part of our work family, we found out Marcos lost his mother when he was 8 years old and his dad has been very sick for quite some time with Wegener’s kidney disease, he has been on dialysis hoping to get on the transplant list. He and his brother, probable candidates, cannot be screened until his dad is put through the appropriate tests. Time, it’s just going to take time and they are waiting for insurance to issue much needed referrals. Well, time isn’t on their side now. Three weeks ago, Marcos called in one Monday, very unusual, the kid does NOT miss work. His Dad’s truck had been stolen in the middle of the night and he had to stay home to help him deal with the police and insurance. Then, 2 weeks ago, he called in again, his father was rushed to the hospital and he was in bad shape. He stayed with him for a couple of days before he came back to work.  Through tired, bloodshot eyes, big smile on his face, kidding with all his coworkers, you knew the boy was hurting and scared. It’s been 14 days now, his dad is still in intensive care, internal bleeding, extreme pain, with no solution in sight. They’re going to perform surgery, no, he’s too weak. They’re going to do a colonoscopy, nope can’t, he’s too weak, they need to move him to a different hospital, nope can’t, still too weak. To make matters even worse, a few nights ago, as he had gotten home from the hospital, his dog was attacked by two pit bulls. Off to the vet hospital for the rest of the night. As if things still couldn’t possibly get worse, his dad will now be moved to USC as soon as a bed is available.  Great news for dad, not so good for the kid. He will have to leave us for a time to be with his dad. Our work and boss have been amazing with allowing him the time. I do know, however, it’s becoming very expensive for him, his dads dialysis medicine, home bills, his missed time at work, his dad not working, the vet bill, and now a stay at USC with his dad has to be overwhelming. We, who have gone through this type of situation, know the costs involved. I can’t help but go into mom mode, my heart just breaks for him. So, I am reaching out to all my friends, family, coworkers, anything you can give would be appreciated.  If it’s not possible, we’d be just as grateful for prayers and good thoughts. Please share!
