<div>Our Story So Far

</div>

<div>The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

</div>

<div>On February 17th, my boyfriend Lee went to the ER for scans to figure out the cause of his persistent back pain. He had thrown his back out about a month prior, and we tried everything—icy hot, massage, sauna, rest, chiropractor, trigger point injections, cupping—but nothing relieved his pain.

<div>We assumed it was a pinched nerve or a bulging disc. Instead, we got the worst possible news—CANCER.

</div>

</div>

<div>Doctors found lesions all over his spine, with some already fracturing vertebrae and ribs. They also found tumors in his lungs and liver.

</div>

</div>

<div>What We’ve Learned Since

</div>

<div>In the past few weeks, we have endured:

<div>Multiple hospital stays

</div>

<div>A week at Mayo Clinic for pain management &amp; radiation

</div>

<div>A terrifying 911 call when Lee woke up struggling to breathe

<div>After a biopsy, five rounds of radiation, and a PET scan, we learned the full scope of what we’re up against:

<div>Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma.

</div>

</div>

<div>The cancer is in:

</div>

<div>His bones – spine, shoulders, arms, hips, femurs, and jaw

</div>

<div>His organs – lungs, liver, and spleen

</div>

<div>His lymph nodes – chest and neck

</div>

</div>

<div>Lee is only 38 years old.

</div>

</div>

<div>The Part That Haunts Me

</div>

<div>In 2019, Lee had a spot removed from his right shoulder. His lymph node came back clean. The spot was removed with good margins. He was told no further treatment was needed.

</div>

</div>

<div>For years, he did everything right—regular dermatology checks every six months, every follow-up appointment. But not once did they do a CT scan.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I’ve done a lot of research, and unfortunately, this is standard protocol.

</div>

</div>

<div>Melanoma is most likely to return within 3-5 years.

</div>

<div>It can come back without a visible skin spot.

</div>

<div>Doctors admit that a single cancer cell can break off and spread elsewhere.

</div>

</div>

<div>So why aren’t scans standard practice? If doctors had been proactive, this could have been caught early—as a small spot in the lung. Instead, it was found when it had already spread everywhere.

<div>Melanoma is NOT "just" skin cancer. It is aggressive. It is deadly. And the medical system doesn’t treat it that way.
