Join Justina's Fight

As some of you may or may not know, Justina was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and Thrombocytosis in early November. Surgeons are saying she must undergo a Thyroid dissection to remove the cancer followed by an uncertain amount of Radiation treatments. She is set to have surgery either the week of December 28th or the week of January 4th. This date will be determined at her follow up appointment with the Surgeon at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on the 21st. After surgery she will undergo a Bone Marrow Biopsy to assess her Thrombocytosis further.

Justina is a strong, independent, beautiful person and the mother to two amazing children. We all know life has not always been fair to her as she already deals with the physical side effects of multiple sclerosis.   But she always keeps a positive attitude and smile on her face. Despite anything she has gone through, she continues to put the needs of others before herself. Justina is an amazing Health Care Professional. She provided exceptional medical care to our community for almost 10 years while working at The Community Health Center, and then went on to serving the needs of our local Veterans working at an Outpatient Clinic for The Department of Veteran Affairs. 

Now the roles are reversed. Justina is going to be the patient being taken care of and she needs a village behind her. She is going to be out of work for an unknown amount of time, yet her financial responsibilities, including medical bills will continue. With all the testing and imaging she has had this far, the medical bills have started to accumulate. She has a high out of pocket medial expense deductible and although her job is protected by FMLA, it is not a paid leave of absence.

She would never ask for any help at all. She has always been independent and has done everything for everyone around her but right now she needs our help. She needs to get through this surgery stress free so she can focus on her recovery and continue on building an amazing life with her beautiful family.
