<div>This is probably one of the worst words you will hear someone say to you. We all like to think that we will always be happy and healthy. Unfortunately, the reality is sometimes far from this vision. On March 28th, 2025, this was exactly what my dad (Juan) was told as studies from his ER visit confirmed his esophageal cancer diagnosis. How does one even begin to process the news? The next few days were filled with tears, sleeplessness nights trying to cope and process all the emotions that filled our hearts and minds.

<div>As the days have progressed the reality of cancer is becoming more real, as we begin to consider all the elements surrounding cancer treatments. The countless appointments, treatment cost, time off work among other factors. My dad is currently retired on limited income, and my mom is sole provider for their household. Still caring for my autistic 17-year-old brother who still needs careful attention and support.

<div>Cancer is a family disease because it affects all our loved ones involved. This is why I am here hoping and praying with the grace of God and the help of those out there reading this we can make a difference in my parent's lives. Lifting some of the financial burden will help them focus on what is really important at this time. My dad's recovery from cancer. Any little bit helps with my dad's journey. <div>Esta es probablemente una de las peores palabras que escucharás que alguien te dirá. A todos nos gusta pensar que siempre seremos felices y saludables. Desgraciadamente, la realidad en veces es muy lejana de esta visión. El 28 de marzo de 2025, esto fue exactamente lo que le dijeron a mi papá (Juan) cuando los estudios de su visita a la sala de emergencias confirmaron su diagnóstico de cáncer de esófago. ¿Cómo se empieza a procesar la noticia? Los siguientes días estuvieron llenos de lágrimas, noches de insomnio tratando de sobrellevar y procesar todas las emociones que llenaban nuestros corazones y mentes.

<div>A medida que avanzan los días, la realidad del cáncer se vuelve más real, a medida que comenzamos a considerar todos los elementos que rodean los tratamientos contra el cáncer. Las innumerables citas, el costo del tratamiento, el tiempo fuera del trabajo, entre otros factores. Mi papá está jubilado con ingresos limitados y mi mamá es la única proveedora de su hogar. Todavía cuidando de mi hermano autista de 17 años que todavía necesita atención y apoyo.

<div>El cáncer es una enfermedad familiar porque afecta a todos nuestros seres queridos involucrados. Es por eso que estoy aquí con esperanza y orando que con la gracia de Dios y la ayuda de aquellos que están leyendo esto, podemos hacer una diferencia en la vida de mis padres. Aliviar parte de la carga financiera les ayudará a concentrarse en lo que es realmente importante en este momento. La recuperación de mi papá del cáncer. Cualquier apoyo es de gran ayuda para mi papá en su batalla. Si no puede donar, aún apreciamos las oraciones por nuestra familia mientras enfrentamos lo que está por venir.
