<div>Juan Silva, our beloved Beach Ave BBQ owner, needs our help. Juan and Chris have built Beach Avenue BBQ as a place that emphasizes Community and Outreach, and now Juan needs to lean on that community for support.

<div>As many of you know, Juan is battling Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), a blood cancer that occurs when malignant cells form in the lymphatic system, as well as esophageal and pituitary gland cancers. He has been undergoing various treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and proton therapy both locally and at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, with three trips north so far. Results have been generally positive so far, but the arduous fight is not over.

<div>This March, Juan needs a $50,000 surgery to remove masses in his back that are causing him extreme pain. The Mayo Clinic, one of the top ranked hospitals in the world, is out of network for insurance coverage and Juan has maxed out his out of network benefits, so his insurance will not cover this needed surgery. He is also seeking integrative care that will not be covered by insurance. In addition, travel expenses such as parking, tolls, and stays can approach $1000 each visit.

<div>While Juan and his family are doing everything they can to stay positive and keep dreaming of the future, the financial strain of medical bills, hospital stays, traveling to receive care, and the need for time away from work to focus on recovery has become overwhelming.
