<div>On December 8th, Jim Kavanagh was admitted to the hospital with excessive bleeding. It was discovered that Jim had no blood platelets. Since then, Jim has endured multiple blood transfusions with the hope that his body will accept and begin to generate platelets. On December 20th, Jim was diagnosed with MDS, likely due to the chemotherapy treatment he has endured while fighting colon cancer. His wife, Susan, a breast cancer survivor, hasn't left his side at the hospital. We are asking for donations to help offset the cost of the massive out-of-pocket medical costs and to raise funds to get Jim transferred to Sloan-Kettering or Stony Brook hospitals where doctors have better resources to treat Jim.
