Hey guys, I'll start this by saying thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm not the type to ask for help but a situation has come up that has put us in a serious financial situation. Eleanor "Ellie" was spayed on 6/27. We picked her up and she was still groggy but assuming it was normal after surgery, we took her home to rest and heal. Later that evening, she began vomiting. She became more lethargic, the vomiting worsened and she was crying out in pain. We immediately took her to the emergency vet as directed by our primary veterinarian. By the time we got there, Ellie was so out of it. They rushed her back to stabilize her. After several hours of waiting we were told that she was doing a little better but wasn't out of the woods and they were going to continue to do more tests to figure out what was wrong.
A few hours later, they called and said that her labs were showing signs of being septic and she was going to need immediate surgery to open her up again and clean the infection out of her abdomen. The cost of the surgery would be $6000! After discussing it, we both agreed that we couldn't put a price on our love for her and chose to proceed with the surgery. Ellie turned 1 year old on the 22nd of June. She's still a baby and has so many treats left to eat, balls to catch, and so much life left to live! We managed to get the $3000 down payment together but we cannot afford the remaining balance of $3000 with our other living expenses. So here we are asking for help. Anything would be a complete blessing and we are forever grateful for all of you. If you aren't able to donate we would love all the prayers and positive vibes we can get. Again thank you so much for taking the time to read this and we will keep you updated on her healing journey ❤️.
Update: Ellie made it out of surgery!!! ❤️ She is still pretty weak but she is awake!! The surgeons went in and had to flush her abdomen. Basically, after being spayed the place that did it left too much of a "uterine stump" and it became necrotic. Her internal stitches started falling out. She developed blood clots and her abdomen started filling with blood and fluid. she still has a while left to stay in the hospital
