Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Lynnette, I am Joe Miller's significant other. I am asking for any assistance in helping my mother-in-law. She was hospitalized on July 5th, 2024. She is currently in the Cardiac ICU at KU Medical. Friday, she began to have internal bleeding and after being seen by her PCP, they decided to have her go to KU Med and be admitted trying to get a better answer. They started by telling her that she needed a colonoscopy, but it was not emergent and will happen Monday. But Saturday morning at 4am Joe received a call advising that the bleeding got worse, and they needed to do emergency surgery to stop the bleed. Donna received 6 blood transfusions through this emergency surgery that then turned experimental because they found that she has so much calcification in her arteries that they could not get to the location to stop the bleed. Her body eventually got it to slow, and they stopped surgery. During this time, we were notified that Her hemoglobin is significantly low and was placed on a ventilator to help keep her heart pumping and a LOT of medications to get her blood pressure up. As of Sunday morning, they are prepping her for the emergency colposcopy then if they feel she is stable they will try to move to helping her heart. We did find out yesterday afternoon that her heart is only working at about 10-15% and she was diagnosed with aortic valve stenosis, in Layman's terms this means she has narrowing of the valve from the opening fully, reducing blood flow to the body making the heart work harder. This is significant as they explained that the blood is going back into the heart instead of out of the heart and too the body.
WHEN WE KNOW MORE MEDICALLY, I WILL UPDATE HERE FOR NOW. I WILL BE ADDING A FACEBOOK GROUP FOR THOSE THAT WANT DIRECT UPDATES IN REAL TIME.
