Join Diamond and Scottie’s Fight Against SMARD Through IVF

My name is Amy Roberts, and I am asking for your help for some very important people in my life!! My best friend and nephew need your help with their IVF journey to fight SMARD1!!

A little piece of their story:

Diamond and Scottie have a biological daughter born February 1, 2022 - Quinnlee Mae! After lots of questions they learned that Quinnlee had mutations that had been passed down from both parents on her IGHMB2 gene. This gene is responsible for motor neuron survival. Quinnlee presented with an EXTREMELY rare disease called SMARD1 which stands for Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress type one. This disease has only been documented in a little over 60 cases ever. Not only is it rare but one of her mutations has never been documented before. After a very long 12-month battle, sadly, Quinnlee went to be with God on February 17, 2023. This is something that NO ONE should ever have to go through!!

For Diamond and Scottie to expand their family naturally, they must use IVF due to the rare genetic mutations they carry which could cause them to have a baby with SMARD1 again… they only have a 25% chance of having a baby without SMARD1. If you don’t know anything about SMARD1, let me tell you how lucky you are! Watching my niece / goddaughter decline in the 12 months she was shining on this Earth was devastating! All of the battles Diamond and Scottie went through including false diagnosis, insurance companies failing to deliver the necessary medical devices that Quinnlee needed just to breath, loss of income from staying in the hospital for 82 days, etc., are also something NO ONE should have to go through!! But they did, and they are still standing through it all!

The testing required for them to have a healthy baby is VERY costly. Each egg retrieved must be tested individually. Just to start the process of IVF, Diamond and Scottie must come up with $15,000. The process only moves forward after that is paid. After all is saif and done the entire process can reach beyond $30.000.

Diamond and Scottie have been through so much and are the most kindhearted, caring, shirt off their backs people I know, and they really want to grow their family as naturally as possible. Let’s help this family out, like they would help you out!!!
