Help for Displaced Persons in Burkina Faso (West Africa)

Burkina Faso is a country in West Africa. It is enclaved and bordered to the east by the Republic of Niger, to the north and west by the Republic of Mali, and to the south by the Republics of Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin. Since 2014, the country has been facing insecurity linked to terrorism and corruption. This situation has led to an uncontrolled migratory phenomenon of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). IDPs are local populations who, through no fault of their own, have left their usual place of residence to find themselves in another part of the country. Unfortunately, in their displaced area, they have no means of subsistence: housing, health, education, etc.

These highly vulnerable people are mostly women and children. Because they are internally displaced, they often do not benefit from the same consideration as refugees recognized by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

Given the situation described above, the Association of Burkinabe Living in Southern California (AMBUCAS) is hosting the FASOLOA 2024 event on August 3rd. We invite you to join us in supporting the humanitarian crisis in Burkina Faso and the ongoing efforts of peace and development initiated by the government.
