I am excited to share with you all that I will be going to Chiang Mai, Thailand from July 5-August 12 for a missions internship with Empower International! I am asking for your prayers and support as I prepare to leave.
For those that are unaware, I left the Air Force Academy this time last year because I felt God calling me into full-time ministry. I am currently studying Biblical and Theological Studies at Wheaton College and am hoping to either go into pastoral ministry or missions after graduation. God has been doing amazing things this year, and I am looking forward to this next year with much anticipation!
I am going to Thailand for the following reasons:
-Spread the good news of Jesus Christ
-Experience and observe life as a missionary
-Gain hands-on missions experience
-Seek guidance about future career aspirations and goals
Who is Empower International?
Empower is a missions organization that serves in Thailand, Burma, and Pakistan. Their overall goal is to empower the people of Southeast Asia to make an impact for Christ. Their ministries include church planting, Bible schools, orphanages, evangelistic outreaches, leadership development, and much more. For more information please visit their website: empower.global.
What exactly will I be doing?
I will be living in rural villages with orphan boys, helping with evangelistic outreaches, working alongside full-time missionaries, and completing any necessary office work. Upon sharing with the on-site missionaries that my experience is mostly in discipleship, they felt it will be best to start me off living life with the boys of Empower's orphanage homes where I will lead Bible studies, complete chores with them, and help facilitate their mental, emotional, and spiritual growth. I was also told by the staff that they will be challenging me beyond my limits and the expectations I have of myself so I'm sure they have many surprises in store for me! In addition to my time in Thailand, I have an opportunity to visit Empower's sites in Burma for 5 days near the end of my internship to experience another culture with its own struggles and wonders. All-together, I hope and pray this experience will challenge me and humble me as I attempt to share the love of Christ with the people of Southeast Asia.
What can you do?
As I prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually this last month before I leave, I ask you to partner with me in prayer and support. Prayers are especially needed as I pray that God speaks through my time with Empower in regards to any future major life decisions. Financial support would of course also be a wonderful blessing, but if you choose to support me I ask that you see it as a partnership. Romans 10:15 states "And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent?" Those who send are just as vital as those who are sent.
