I am blessed with three smart and loving children who bring immense joy to my life. However, in March 2022, my brave two-year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. Notably, I was still nursing my four-month-old baby son. Trips back and forth to Duke Hospital and hospital stays left me working less and less. Although the journey was long and arduous, my strong and courageous baby emerged victorious, proudly ringing the bell in May 2024. As I strive to regain my footing for the benefit of my children, it has still been difficult because my daughter's immune system is still recovering, so it is easy for her to get sick, and with little children come colds and fevers.
