Meet Chuck and Sherry Johnson
Chuck and Sherry Johnson are lifelong La Honda residents who are hard-working and beloved members of this small Santa Cruz Mountain community. Their home was built by Chuck's father in 1947, on a carefully chosen site, and has been the family home for many years.
What Happened
While extended periods of rain last winter ended years of drought in California, they caused a destructive landslide in the small community of La Honda, resulting in the total loss of 3 homes and serious damage to the Johnson's property. Currently, the Johnson home sits at the head of the landslide, in a precarious spot, considering the significant sinking of their backyard close to the house as well as the road below (Scenic Drive).
Our Goal
-Cover the cost of a geotechnical study of the Johnson's property ($24,000 estimate). Immediate need! This will also help provide info re: possible impact on surrounding roads, like Woodland Vista and Fir View.
-Help cover cost of measures to protect the house for the coming rainy season.
- Help cover cost of mitigation measures to prevent further damage to the Johnson property in future years.
