John Smith is husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend. At 73 years old he was facing a life changing decision to undergo an aortic aneurysm repair. Like anything in life there are risks and statistics about the outcome and quality of life post surgery, but with his faith, family, and friends by his side he chose to willingly commit to surgery.
Unfortunately, on September 13 John suffered a major thoracic spinal cord stroke during surgery as well as a left-side stroke in his brain. This has left John with right side paralysis and very high paraplegia. John currently has the use only of his left arm and hand.
John spent 34 years as a family physician always helping others. Not only was he a physican, but he also spent 22.5 years helping those who struggled with alcohol addiction . John with his wife Susie by his side continues to fight daily for a better tomorrow and a healthy happy life. However, their life together is forever changed.
One can imagine the expenses incurred while caring for someone with John’s diagnosis. “How can I help?” has become a frequent question that we have encountered, and we have come to the conclusion the best way to help is with the financial burden. Although John has good medical insurance it does not cover all medical necessities. Our hope and dream is to get John back to his home that is adapted to his needs and we believe with the help of our family and friends we can make this dream come true. Our next goal for John is a spinal and stroke rehabilition facility. Your donation would first and formost go towards his medical transportation to such facility.
