8/1/17- Johnny is back in New York. He's still anticipating a surgery to remove the hardware that was put in to repair his shoulder.
Yesterday he was admitted to the hospital with a 102 fever and a racing heart beat. He was also experiencing a lot of pain in his shoulder. The doctor was concerned that he might have an infection in the surgery site. They kept him overnight.
Without getting political, it's safe to say whatever procedures are done here in the US are going to cost much more than his European health care did.
Your generosity has been amazing. Thank you to all who have donated. I just wanted to update you and let you know the Fund is still active and anything you can donate will help alleviate the financial burden created by this unexpected accident.

Johnny is currently on a European trip, fulfilling a lifelong dream. He’s also doing it in memory of his best friend Patrick. They had always hoped to travel together.
Day 17 threw a wrench in the gears. While walking down the cobblestone streets of Florence enjoying the beauty, Johnny stumbled and fell. He broke his shoulder. He will need surgery to repair it. The soonest they could operate in Florence is Tuesday. His itinerary has him in Rome on Tuesday. So he’s bandaged tight and taking it easy for a couple days. He will have surgery when he arrives in Rome.
Johnny was working two jobs leading up to his trip. He had adequate money saved up. Unfortunately, he was unable to sublet his apartment in New York so needed to cut into his savings to pay his rent. He was still going to be okay, just had to cut out a few excursions and live a little on a slightly cheaper daily budget during his travels. But he did not account for this.
Johnny was insured through June 30. This happened on July 1. So he is currently uninsured. We have no idea what this surgery will cost. The $2,000 is a total guess. It may be way too much or not nearly enough. We're just hoping some of you will be able to help. If you are able, please donate to help cover the cost of Johnny’s surgery, his pain medications and any after care appointments he may have. Any amount will help. Your generosity will be so appreciated. If you are unable to donate at this time, prayers, well wishes and positive thoughts will be helpful, as well. Please share to spread the word.
