Little John's Liver Transplant

John Hendric is my 4-month old grandson in the Philippines, who was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia(BA), a rare infant liver disease affecting 1 out of 10,000 newborns. Babies with BA have obstruction in their bile ducts which gets the bile trapped within their bodies eventually causing liver damage leading to biliary cirrhosis and liver failure.

Its heartbreaking to know that little John is afflicted with a fatal condition. He has mild physical symptoms of this disease such as slightly yellowish eyes and skin and a noticeably bigger than normal tummy. His recent liver biopsy result indicated Liver Cirrhosis thus he will need a liver transplant at the soonest possible time in Taiwan. Transplantation is his only chance at life. Among the hospitals which performs this kind of sensitive procedure, Chang Gung memorial Hospital in Taiwan is regarded to have the best team and facilities. Consequently, the cost of liver transplant in Taiwan is roughly 5 million Philippine Pesos or nearly $100,000 for hospitalization and procedure alone. This does not cover yet pre and post-operative expenses, travel, living expenses and maintenance medications. We are thus humbly appealing to your kind hearts to extend help and assistance.
