JOHN NEEDS WHEELS

Donation protected

Thanks for taking a moment to read my request.

Currently, my focus is on recovering from a heart attack and subsequent health issues.
While I have a new pacemaker to help with heart function, my most pressing and immediate need is for a temporary electric wheelchair, until I can get a permanent one through Medicare/Medicaid.

There is a store in Mt. Vernon that specializes in reconditioned chairs for about 1/3rd of the cost of a new unit through Medicare/Medicaid. I am eligible for the solution through Medicare/Medicaid (cost = $5000.00), but the application process will take 4 to 6 months.

Having an electric wheelchair would enable me to have more independence and to become a much more productive member of society. It would make it possible for me to secure employment.

I'd like to note that most of my friends do not live in Anacortes, so the danger of my riding around with reckless, wild abandon in a motorized unit would likely have no effect on your or your family.
For those that do live here, I am sure we could arrange an alarm system to warn you when my wheels hit the pavement. ;-)

I'm just not finished yet with work I have been involved with for 40+ years and I would love to rejoin the rest of you yet again.

If I am successful in acquiring the temporary wheelchair, my plans would be to pass it on to someone else who needs it when the permanent one comes.

Please take the time to prayerfully reflect on this request and, if possible, contribute to it.

Sincerely,
--John
