John's Cochlear Devices

Donation protected
For over 27 years now I have been greatly blessed to call the above pictured man, my Dad. His name is John Crossett. If you know him or have ever met him, you would no doubt be familiar with his magnetic personality. I have always admired the way in which he takes every opportunity to seek out acquaintances, new and old and put them at ease while showing genuine care and concern for each and every one. To date, I have not come across another person who will go out of their way (sometimes in a hilariously awkward fashion I might add) to read the name tag of every cashier/waiter/waitress and thank them for their service by name. Many are surprised and taken aback but almost always recover with a smile and a genuine, ‘you’re welcome’. For me, this serves as a little reminder to always be faithful, even in the LITTLE things.

My earliest memories of my father involve hearing aids. He steadily lost his hearing starting when he was a child. Through much of his adulthood, he supplemented his hearing loss with hearing aids while still depending in large part on raised voices and lip reading. In 2006, we returned to the U.S. after serving in ministry overseas and found that his hearing had receded below 10% in both of his ears making a double Cochlear ear implant possible. God provided for his implant surgery in December of that year and many things changed. The obvious was that he was introduced back into a world full of sounds that most of us take for granted. However, there was another far greater change that occurred as a result. My Father, whom I had always thought was shy, became outgoing. He blossomed as an individual and became a renewed testament to the faithfulness of God. This in turn, opened up new ministry opportunities and avenues. To this day, I thank my heavenly Father for being faithful to my earthly father.

His cochlear implants are going on 9 years now and he is without a backup implant processor as one of his primary processors has already given up. This implant technology is now outdated as there have been two subsequent models. The most recent model (Nucleus 6) came out in 2013. There are many enhanced abilities that come with the Nucleus 6 including a more powerful sound processor as well as the ability to swim underwater with it. He would no longer need to remove his processors and revert to being completely deaf when going for a swim at the beach.

As a pre-existing condition, insurance will not cover this upgrade. I am laying this before the Lord and praying that He uses His family of believers to provide for this expense and bring glory to His name. Please pray for this need and consider taking action.

Many blessings,

Kyle Crossett
