John Woods Wheels to Wings Fund

John Woods, father, husband, friend, son and brother, traded in his Wheels for Wings on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017. He was admitted to Los Robles ICU on December 17th suffering from Flu-like symptoms.  John was diagnosed with Meningitis and remained in ICU for three weeks. Over the three weeks there was little to no improvement and he began undergoing numerous tests... CAT scans, MRI's, Biopsies, Blood tests, Intubation etc.

Dr.'s noticed a lesion in John's nose that caused some concern. The lesion was biopsied and it was found to be mold.  After continuous high doses of antibiotics, there was still no marked improvement.  John was alert intermittently but unable to communicate well.

A liver biopsy revealed our worst fears, of stage 4
Adenocarcinoma which also metastasized to his pancreas, liver and brain.  There is no life experience or script that prepares you to tell your kids that their Dad has terminal cancer and not long to live.

John was released from the hospital after Doctors decided there was nothing else that could be done and began hospice care at our home on Tuesday, January 17th. Much to our shock and disbelief,  our beloved John Woods succumbed to his short aggressive battle with cancer two days later.  A man that I have been with for 27 years never even had a cold or missed a day of work.

This hit us from nowhere. We are emotionally, mentally and financially impacted and are still not aware of how this devastating loss will truly impact our family.

As we begin to plan for John's services, we are still saddled with a portion of his medical expenses.

We are grateful for all of the family and friends who came to the hospital, called, text and showed their love and support.  He and I both were  truly touched by all of you. His primary concern always was making sure that everyone else was OK.

I am writing this and can't even believe that I am typing this. This is unbelievable and our souls and hearts are hurting. He is suppose to be out riding his Harley with the crew and enjoying his time off.  He now is on the ride of his life and we will forever be grateful for him.

Thank you for your contribution of any size - the money raised will go towards the costs and expenses of the memorial services and resloving the balances of John's medical bills.
