John Tucker

Hello Samantha here!
I hope you are well!
Some of you may know me some of you may not so I’ll do a quick introduction, my name is Samantha/Sam and sadly my grandad John Tucker (Mr Wimbledon) passed away earlier this year and If you knew him he lived and breathed tennis is every single way!
One thing we will all agree on he loved tennis and helping others who ever you were he would treat you the same and try and get you involved in tennis some sort of way whether it be watching, playing, coaching, going to Wimbledon or having a cup of tea down at Clearview!
He really was truly a wonderful man and did so much for everyone else, one thing he was very passionate about was getting everyone involved in tennis regardless of your ability, this came from his childhood of being in a wheelchair due to severe asthma and breathing problems and he then discovered that tennis helped his breathing and he no longer needed the wheelchair!
This is where his passion and drive came from to help others, if it could change his life then he knew tennis could change others!
So in 1997 he got involved with a great charity the
”Dan Maskell Tennis Trust”
a tennis charity raising funds for people with disabilities who play tennis. He became a Trustee and Vice-Chairman when the Trust became an independent charity in 2010 and he became Chairman of the Golf Day which is where I’m hoping you can help me raise some money for!

The golf day was something my grandad was very passionate about it is a celebrity golf day run annually in which he used to get as many people involved he would ask anyone he met can you play golf? Or he wasn’t shy of asking a celeb to come and play in the day!He even managed to persuade Elaine Paige to become the Trust President! It was because of my grandads wonderful ways he secured the venue of Wentworth golf club which it was hosted here for years until it was sold, this year it is at the RAC club on the 13th June and this is why I am writing in honour of my grandad I will be hosting 2 teams at this years event, I am even playing (which should be fun as I’m no pro) but as my grandad would of said you can do it darling show them how it’s done!
This event is the main fundraiser for the charity so please if you can spare anything then it will go very far! Or if you can’t donate please share the post as someone may see it on socials! Every little helps!
This years golf day will be in memory of him and I hope I can do my part (with your help) to help raise as much as possible!

The golf day will be on June 13th day at RAC club Epsom so from now until then please if you can spare a penny or a pound whatever it maybe it will be highly appreciated, as they are a small charity so they rely a lot on this day to help others!

Thank you for reading and supporting!
I hope to make him proud and carry on his legacy of helping others through tennis and help raise money for a wonderful charity!

Thank you again
lots of love
Sam xx
