I'm opening this Go Fund Me page on behalf of my son John Ritonya.
John has Cardiac Light Chain Amyloidosis.
What is Amyloidosis?
Its an abnormal misfolded protein that is produced in your bone marrow and are deposited in and around tissues, nerves and organs. Accumulations of these insoluble amyloids deposits can lead to organ toxicity, irreversible organ damage and dysfunction.
The exact cause of this disease is unknown. Currently there is no cure for this disease. amyloidosis.org/facts/
John is in congestive heart failure. He is undergoing Chemo Therapy and taking medications to stop the 'new' production of amyloids. This will not reverse the previous damage this has caused to his lungs, liver, stomach muscles, tongue and lymph nodes in his neck.
Due to the condition of John's heart, he has fluid buildup in his chest and around his lungs which makes it difficult for him to breathe. A catheter tube was placed in the side of his chest so he can drain the fluid three times a week at home. Each time 1100 cc of fluid is drained from his chest.
While John is waiting for a heart transplant he is unable to work.
After the heart transplant he will under go a stem cell transplant.
John has a team of doctors and with this comes doctor appointments, medications, medical treatments and hospital expenses. There is so much money that goes uncovered even when you have coverage.
