John Pratt & Clan Hit by Hurricane

John Pratt and family were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.  Originally told to stay put and not immediately evacuate, the water kept rising (and is still rising at this writing).  Finally there was no time to do anything but grab the kids and go to his near by  in-laws home that has a second floor.  While John and Natalie and the three kids (twins Layla and Jude, age 2 and Isabel, age 7) and dog Oliver made it to safety, all of their belongings are under 7 feet of water.  John was uninsured.   They had no time to gather shoes, clothing, or personal items.  While some clothes are being offered for the twins, they are in need of clothes for the 7 year old as well as themselves.  Natalie and John are working on one set of their own clothes and are borrowing others  from the in-laws. 

Once the kids were safe John and Natalie took a boat  back to their home on Saffron Lane in Friendswood, TX, only to realize there was nothing salvagable.  Natalie has a Facebook live feed from Sunday the 27th on her page, showing their home under water. (Natalie Barron Davis)  In spite of all this, John and Nat were able to rescue their neighbor's dogs, although John got bit for his efforts.  (The dog later became his good buddy.)

John's place of business is under water and will take time to rebuild and get people back to work.  Natalie has been unemployed for several weeks prior to the storm.  Timing for all of this just couldn't be worse for them.

I do thank God for the help they've received from Natalie's loving parents and I know they are better off than a lot of others,  But I also know that they have to start to build their lives together all over again from scratch.  Their rental property is unlivable.  They have no furniture for the kids or themselves, no sheets, towels, clothing, let alone washer/dryer, television, toys, computers, day to day essentials that once we own we give little thought to.  It will be days, weeks and even months before things become remotely easier for them, financially, physically and emotionally, but in the meantime they have needs that need to be met.  Until the water resides it will be impossible for them to find a WalMart or equivalent to get even the most basic supplies, like Pull-ups for kids or new skivvies for themselves.  Once they can, however, they'll need funds to get them going. 

Mail service is and will be disrupted. FEMA funding is slow to arrive and then only covers bare essentials.  I'm starting this page to see if we can't get John and his family a head start in putting their lives back together after this terrible ordeal.  Please, the smallest of donations will help.

Update: Both of my sons live in the Houston area. My son Patrick Pratt, Carol and the grandkids have  a home in Seabrook, TX.  His house has sustained some storm damage and his garage has flooded.  We're praying no surges add to his already flooded neighborhood.  While both my sons have weathered previous hurricanes, this is a first for John with his kids.
