<div>John E. Mills, Newington High School band director for over 25 years, passed away on October 20, 2023. When he retired from Newington High School, a scholarship fund was established in his name to support outstanding performers and contributing members of the band and jazz program at Newington High School.

<div>John was a music educator in various Connecticut towns for over 30 years. He inspired many students to love music and to become music educators. He was an accomplished professional saxophonist and clarinetist who played classical and jazz music at the Bushnell, Hartford Civic Center, and other New England venues.
