John McGarrity's Recovery

Donation protected
Early Saturday morning my father, John McGarrity, suffered from an Ischemic Stroke.  My stepmother rushed him to Inspira Vineland where he was given TPA (a clot busting drug) and within 30 minutes he was starting to regain function of his right arm and speak clearer.   We were relieved to say the least.  Things changed as he began deteriorating very rapidly.  He lost his speech and was unable to move his limbs on the right side.  The doctor ordered a repeat catscan and and thats when we found out that he was now suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke as well.  The doctor informed us that he would need to be airlifted to Cooper immediately and given more medications to reverse the TPA he had been given but unfortunately the bleeding in his brain was already significant.  Once we got to Cooper we learned that surgical intervention was not appropriate because the strokes had occurred too deep in the brain and they would have to travel through too much healthy brain tissue to get to the injured area and that posed higher risks.  So now, we wait.  That's it.  They keep telling us that we have to wait because no one knows if he will regain function.  He still cannot speak and does not have function of his right side.  An a-line was placed and today he received a feeding tube.  He is being closely monitored with hopes that the bleed is contained and his blood pressure will remain stable.  With that being said, first and foremost, I ask for your prayers.  We have a wonderful, giving God waiting to be called upon so please, lift my father up in prayer every chance you get.  My father has always been a hard-working man that has taken care of his family with tireless dedication.  His wife, Lisa Cossaboon, has been by his side this entire time.  Needless to say, they cannot work at this time, as he requires around the clock care and is not out of the woods yet. Lisa has been a nurse for many years and has spent just as long continuing her education so she can further help our community and assure above adequate care for the patients she has come in contact with.  Along the way she has remained humble and generous.  She is now in need of our prayers and comfort.
Having one income subtracted from a household is tough, losing two can de devastating.  We all have a long road in front of us and any help, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.  As you all know costs add up quickly and disability in NJ can take months to receive.  We are now facing the choice of which rehabiliation facility to send him to.  With his deficits we obviously want the best, but the best will cost us.  Thank you in advance for any help that you can give and please remember to pray.  I will post updates as we get them.
