We are raising money for the next generation of Notre Dame students. The money you donate will honor our dear friend and roommate, John M Heffernan, 1989 graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
John Martin Heffernan, 53, of Broadview Heights, OH, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born on October 12, 1967 in Chicago, IL. He attended St. Edward's High School in Lakewood, OH where he was editor of the yearbook. John attended the University of Notre Dame where he received a degree in Accounting in 1989. After working in public accounting, John earned his Juris Doctorate from Case Western University. He practiced law for 25 years, most recently with Harpst Becker LLC. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Linda Heffernan. He is survived by his wife Cindy and stepchildren Mitchell, Beck and Olivia Saine. John was the proud and attentive Godfather to Gianni and Jillian Petrillo.
John was a man of deep faith and strong character. He was proud to be of Italian and Irish descent, a Republican and a Catholic. John had a quick wit, was a skilled debater, an impeccable dresser, a connoisseur of fine food and wine and loved to share stories in the company of good friends. John will be most remembered as a devoted and loyal friend. Those he knew, he loved. And those who knew John, loved him.
A Mass celebrating his life will be livestreamed from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, IN on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 9:30am EST. For those who would like to attend virtually, it will be streamed through the following link:

John will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the University of Notre Dame campus.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his beloved Notre Dame. All his friends and colleagues will be invited to honor his life and memory.
