Yesterday morning, suddenly and unexpectedly John Johannesen passed away from a blood clot in the lungs leaving behind his devastated fiance Genevieve Holmes and a deeply grieving family and friends. He cherished his three children Jonathan, Kevin, and Anna who he shared with Maria Herman.
John had a wide circle of extended family, fellow Marines and a multitude of friends going back over 35 years. John was only 47 years old and we had so many plans for our future together but this is the one thing that we had not considered.
John was the driving force behind FHYT (Fight How You Train). His passion was training the average person in concealed carry and his influence in that area cannot be overstated. John and I put every extra nickel into FHYT and had no plans for an expense such as this.
John did not have life insurance or burial benefits. He will be cremated, per his wishes, and in place of a traditional funeral a Viking celebration of life will be held at a future date.
