John Hanson 24 Hour Bike Ride for George’s Journey

 

George's Journey

George is a very funny, bright and loving 6 year old boy, who loves exploring and learning about new places.

In March he was diagnosed with Juvenile Macular Degeneration, which has caused colour blindness and vision loss. Sadly this condition will only get worse and there is currently no cure.

George is now registered as sight impaired, he struggles to recognise faces, read and watch TV.

We know that there are many things that George will not be able to do in the future which is why we decided to create a vision based bucket list, to try and help George to experience as much as possible before his sight deteriorates further. George has expressed his desires to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, to stand in the colosseum and be a gladiator and to go and see just how wonky the leaning tower of Pisa is. 

Taking George to just one of these places would be fantastic, and would create some amazing visual memories that he will keep with him forever. Thank you to everyone for your support in making George's dreams a reality.

Event:

On Monday 22nd of July 3 teams of John Hanson staff and students will be taking part in a 24 hour bike ride to raise money for George. The teams will consist of 3 members, one staff team, one male student team and one female student team. As well as all of the teams working together to raise money they will also be competing against each other to see who can ride the furthest in the 24 hours.

The school sports hall will be open all night so please feel free to come down and support all of the staff and students taking part in this challenge.
