As many of you may know, I am a part of the Psi Delta Service Fraternity of the University of Maine at Machias. We were founded in 1972, and John Purington was one of the founding members.
The fraternity is dedicated to providing community service to the downeast Maine region and has proudly done so since our beginnings.
With John's recent passing I was fortunate enough to meet his aunt Eva, who is truly a saint. She is a truly kind individual who will gladly share home and food with anyone willing to lend their ear for stories of downeast maine.
Eva lives in the family home that John was born in, and it is requiring some costly maintenance (new roof on barn, painting, etc). Eva is 87 years young, and still climbing ladders to maintain this beautiful family home.
As a way of honoring all that big J has done for our fraternity, for the downeast region, and for each person lucky enough to cross paths with him- We are undertaking a large service project of re-shingling the barn/painting trim. This project will be costly and we are hoping to help offset that cost for Eva.
Donations of any amount will truly mean the world to this woman so I appreciate you taking the time to read and to share. And as always thanks for your support!
