Now...
On with the show...

In solidarity with its Black volunteers and with Black lives generally, the Erie Playhouse produced an online production of The Mountaintop which is a narrative about MLK Jrs last night alive as told by Black playwright Katori Hall. The money made selling tickets went to the Black Lives Matter movement. Where much of Erie celebrated this decision, a few outliers existed. Their dissent was painfully loud. One (not so) gentleman, a John Dombrowski, called Executive Director Kate Neubert Lechner an “ass-hole” and BLM a Terrorist Organization on social media.
It is very strongly my belief and that of my peers that Black lives do matter and that we must do everything we can to stand with and behind the movement that seeks to tip contemporary civil rights over the wall they’ve hit - a wall we’ve all worked, consciously and subconsciously, to build. We must tear down this wall and BLM is doing that. Fortunately for Mr. Dombrowski, it looks like he’ll get to, too.
Starting now we’ll be donating any money received here to the Black Lives Matter movement and we’ll be doing it in his name. It seems he’s not willing to apologize for his blatant racism so we’ll repent on his behalf. Drop your money here and spread the word. John Dombrowski is about to be a changed man.
